Lessons Learned

Delving into insights from NPSG Australia's National Project Manager, we uncover valuable lessons gleaned from years of working in the commercial warehouse fit-out domain. For NPSG Australia’s Jesse Palmer, working with one of the world’s biggest e-commerce retailers is proving to be hugely satisfying for the whole team.

And Jesse, the company’s National Project Manager, has three key takeaways from the partnership project; Staff satisfaction is at the top of the list followed by process driven productivity and innovation.

NPSG Australia is known for its innovative approach to warehouse management and logistics and aims to integrate NPSG’s cutting-edge technology to streamline operations and improve efficiencies for all its customers. Jesse has been focusing on some of the lessons being learned in the process and says listening to new ideas when beginning a project is vital to succeed.

He says an important step towards project success is finding key task's that can be improved “then speaking with the team openly and listening to new ideas”.

“At times, the simplest things can change a process that doubles the productivity,” Jesse says, adding “it can be surprising, who has the best suggestions”.

And he stresses the more knowledge shared with the team, the better.

“It opens growth within the team and increases productivity by having versatile staff. Having a range of knowledge provides staff with the confidence to make decisions and move forward.”

Plus, he says, one of the key factors of NPSG's project success is bringing in internal specialists for milestones. “We have internal testers attend sites during the initial and validation stages of workstations, creating an optimum layout that is then labelled our golden station. Once these approvals are completed our team can systematically mimic the process.”

Jesse says project success brings a huge sense of accomplishment for all involved. “Every project must be a team effort where everyone comes together with a common goal.”

“Not all team members will get the recognition deserved from clients but, the project team should always be appreciated and applauded for their contribution.”

When asked what he would like clients to know before they start working together on a project, Jesse is clear. “Minimising costs does not equal project success or customer satisfaction.”

And, he adds more around the idea of knowledge. “Before you sign the contract with any company, it's in your best interest to understand the company you are working with”.
